Developing Careers in the IT Industry

Frustrations

It is very sad to hear when people refer a person in the IT industry only as "tig-ayo computer" (computer technician), "mang hack WIFI", or even a "tig bantay internetan" (internet cafe personnel). There is so much in IT that non-technical individuals need to understand. And one way to do that is to get to know the different fields an IT student can pursue in the development of his career.

What have I been doing?

For the past one and a half year, I have been working in different parts of the world, a place away from my hometown. Now I ask myself, during those months, what have I really been doing?

Surely I get to experience the spring season of China and enjoyed their endless noodle dishes. As well as, experienced the busy life of Manila. Oh, and the cold winter (but wasn't able to see snow) of Japan. But was I really documenting my trips? I had lot of pictures though, but without sharing my activities, wouldn't it just go to waste or may be forgotten? And what is this blog all about again?

Well, maybe I really am not the type of person who, after enjoyed his travel activities would sit on a computer and tell to the world how fun or how exciting it was. But if I could learn or put an effort to writing, wouldn't it also be great? Ohhhh... I'm confused.

For the next 5 or 8 years, what will I be doing? I'm confused. I feel that what I am doing now will be different with what I will be doing or want to do in the future. If you have any advice, I will be very glad to hear from you.

Thank you very much and God bless.

Tracing Back my Footsteps

The Official School Logo
(Presented during the Turn Over Ceremony
of the newly-constructed Gymasium,  Sept. 2011)
Tracing back my footsteps is actually not an easy task for me. Maybe because of the fact that I have always spent a great amount of time in this school even after I graduated primary school and taught Scouting, and maybe because I am feeling down lately because of staying too long in another country.

Picasa and my Blog

I'm amazed with the features of my newly-acquired software application, the Picasa.

Back then, I only knew about this application because of the better design of its photo viewer which attracted me the most. But what is most amazing is that I can update my blog, and submit new posts easily through its "BLOG THIS" feature.

It has been several months since I submitted a post. Some friends who are active bloggers invited me in some events in blogging and I know I am not worthy. But I believe, through this application, I can easily publish posts every now and then without the hassle of personally logging into my account using a web browser.

Kudos to Picasa! And Kudos to the Tejero Scouting Unit!

My Father Prayed Hard Tonight

Maybe I cannot describe my family in terms of the level of how religious we are in terms of faith or even on areas pertaining on how we follow the traditions of our religion. And I cannot even give to you certain situations where the whole family whole-heartedly prayed the rosary or attend mass without one of us frowning (when we were younger) or worse, we would not even want to do those affairs. But one thing that I can be proud to say to you, especially for this evening, is that, "my father really has prayed very hard tonight."

74th Cebu City Charter Day Celebration

The proof of a strong and unified chartered city.

This coming February 24, Thursday, Cebu City will celebrate its 74th Charter Day anniversary and honor Don Vicente Rama, a Cebuano who had the foresight to establish Cebu as a chartered city. The struggle of Don Vicente to author the bill was horrendous. The bill was met with stiff objection from politicians and nearly all sectors of the Municipality of Cebu. The reasons were basically political envy and fear of additional taxes that may be collected with a city status.
